Product Highlight - Donaldson Duramax Gen 2

This time in our product update we highlight the updated Duramax 2 filter range from Donaldson. This heavy-duty filter range is ideal for applications in heavy machines, excavators, shovels and tractors. In this blog we explain what makes these filters so suitable.

Donaldson Duramax

You can easily recognize the Duramax range in the typical orange color. But there are a number of things that make these filters suitable for heavier applications

Unique design spin-on filter

First of all, this filter has a unique spin-on thread on the inside of the housing. This creates a much larger bonding surface between the spin-on filter and the filter head. This makes the Duramax filter resistant to much higher pressures and pressure fluctuations. This is especially relevant for heavier construction machines.

Optimal flow

In much more heavily loaded hydraulic systems you see many peaks in the pressure exerted on the filter. Even in those circumstances you want to maintain maximum performance. Because this filter has an optimal flow with low resistance, this filter is able to minimize the pressure loss in the filter. This ensures that the oil is still under optimal pressure after it has passed through the filter.

Synteq™ filter media

This is partly due to the unique synthetic filter media that Donaldson uses. The Synteq™ filter media has a number of unique properties. Firstly, as mentioned, the good flow and low pressure loss.

Secondly, and this is almost contradictory to point one, this media has a good pollution absorption capacity. This is partly due to the unique and uniform structure of the fibers.

The third point is that this filter retains its filtering capacity for a long time. This extends the life of the filter so you can continue working for longer with optimal performance and the intervals for changing the filters become longer.

Optionally, this filter can also be equipped with an indicator that indicates whether the filter is still performing optimally. So you can get rid of the intervals based purely on operating hours and therefore save money with this filter. Unless, of course, you work in such conditions that you need to replace the filter sooner. But even in that case it is good to know this, because although it will be your turn sooner, you will prevent damage to your hydraulic system or reduced performance of your machine.

Why we recommend the Donaldson Duramax filter range

The higher performance in particular is why we recommend this filter. The hydraulic system in your machine consists of expensive parts, such as your pumps, cylinders, valves and motors. Good filtration is very important to keep it in good condition. In the event of overdue maintenance or poor filters, the temperatures in your pipes, hoses and other parts will increase, which greatly limits their lifespan. You also want to prevent irreversible internal wear from eating away at your pumps, motors and other hydraulically moving parts. You cannot see this from the outside, but prevention is better than cure, read replacing expensive parts.
